MLA for AFSPA revocation
GK NEWS NETWORK
SRINAGAR: Chairperson of State Women’s Commission and MLA Habba Kadal, Shameema Firdous on Friday demanded revocation of Armed Force Special Powers Act (AFSPA) saying it had given “license to kill” to the troopers.
In a statement, Shameema said AFSPA was imposed in the state by PDP patron, Mufti Muhammad Sayeed who was the then Home Minister in the Union government. “With AFSPA in force, the people are facing sense of insecurity. The troops are killing our youth with impunity,” she said.
She said the National Conference under the leadership of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, was making efforts to revoke AFSPA. “Omar Sahib is the first chief minister after Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah to highlight the problems of Kashmir in Parliament. National Conference is committed to provide justice and sense of security to the people,” she added.
