Militant killed in Poonch

Srinagar, June 1: Police today said it killed a militant in a fierce gun-battle in the mountainous district of Poonch this evening.
Police and troops launched searches in Theru Top near Gali Girjan, Surankote, where an encounter started, police said. “The gun-battle resulted in the death of one foreign militant and injuries to his associate who has not been traced yet. Search operation is still going on,” a police spokesman said.
Doda Police and 26 RR apprehended two persons from Dondi Gandoh this afternoon, namely Irfan Ahmed and Muzaffar, both residents of Koti-Doda.
Meanwhile, people on Tuesday staged protests in Lalad Sopur demanding bodies of the militants killed in encounter with troopers. Hundreds of people took to streets raising pro-freedom and anti-India slogans demanding bodies of two militants killed in an encounter with troopers on Monday evening.
The police later handed over the bodies to local Auqaf for burial.
