Nadihal residents getting threats: Hurriyat (M)

GK NEWS NETWORK

Srinagar, June 1: Hurriyat Conference (M) on Tuesday alleged that the situation in Nadihal area was extremely grim and tense as the people there were getting life threats by the armed forces following massive protests by them against the killing of three civilians in a ‘fake’ encounter in Machil sector in frontier district of Kupwara.

Quoting residents of Nadihal, who called on the Hurriyat (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, the amalgam spokesman, in a statement today, said, “The people of Nadihal in general and Fayaz Ahmad Wani s/o Abdul Rashid Wani of Tujar Sharief, Sopur, in particular are getting life threat from SOG personnel for telling the truth. They have been asked to be ready to face the consequences due to which sense of insecurity is prevailing there.”

The spokesman warned the government against any reprisal act by the armed forces and its agencies. “In case the armed forces carry out any operation against the people, the onus of responsibility will lie on the authorities,” he added.
