Rajbagh Residents Association to expand network

Srinagar, June 1: The Rajbagh Residents Association has started enrolling residents of adjacent areas to expand the association network for highlighting civic problems faced by the inhabitants.
In a statement, the association Tuesday said: “The residents of Rajbagh met at the initiative of Abdul Hamid Kitab at his Rajbagh residence to discuss various issued confronting the residents relating to general problems of drainage, erratic power supply, garbage dumps, traffic mismanagement and other problems arising out of ill planned commercialization of the area including the mushroom growth of guesthouses and educational institutions within the residential zones.”
“All present in the meeting hoped that a good beginning has been made for the first time to mobilize the residents of Greater Rajbagh residing along the flood channel bund in the south, the main Jhelum Bund on the north, Jawahar Nagar road on the west and eastern bund separating Rajbagh from Shivpora area.”
The handout said: “It was resolved that a concerted effort will be made to enroll the entire population of the Greater Rajbagh as members of the Association. Separately a membership drive will be launched and every adult member of every family in the area will be requested to become the member of the Association.”
“Efforts will be made to invite willing members to actively participate in the activities of the Association.”
Meanwhile, the members present in the meeting, the handout said, elected the Working Committee with GM Baccha as Chairman, Dr MA Kawosa as President, AH Kitab as Vice president, Akhtar Nizami as General Secretary and MS Tramboo as treasurer.
