Revoke AFSPA

This refers to the article title “Take encounter business'' by Sajad Bazaz (GK 30.05.2010). The author is absolutely right in saying that the business of fake encounters is going on in Kashmir for the past so many years. The business is done by the men in uniform. The killing of three innocent youth in Machil sector of Kupwara district by Army is an example of this business. The killings have raised a question mark over the functioning of the government. The Government of India and the state government often claim of having a “zero tolerance” policy on human rights abuses. But on ground, such barbaric incidents continue. It is time to revoke the dreaded Armed Forces Special Powers Act.
