Jajjar Kotli to have artificial Lake

Jammu: The nearest and favorite tourist spot of Jammu, Jajjar Kotli, will soon have an artificial lake. The lake is being constructed by the Irrigation and Flood Control department at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.85 crore as a flood control measure for the areas along the existing rain fed stream. On its completion, the upcoming lake is also deemed to become a major attraction for the Vaishno Devi pilgrims and the local tourists from Jammu and other adjoining districts.
 “The proposed lake would have a weir length of 24 meter and 6 meter height across Jajjar nallah”, Minister for Irrigation and Flood Control Taj Mohi-ud-Din said after laying foundation stone of the lake today. He said that with the construction of weir an artificial lake, having an area of 20250 Sq metre shall be created with poundage capacity of 50 AF.
