Lok Sabha Speaker in Srinagar
To Inaugurate POs Conference Today

Srinagar, June 19: Lok Sabha Speaker, Meira Kumar, today arrived at Srinagar in connection with the inauguration of the 75th All India Presiding Officers Conference scheduled to commence from Sunday.
At the Srinagar International Airport, Kumar was accorded warm reception by the Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Muhammad Akbar Lone, Deputy Chairman Legislative Council, S. Arvinder Singh Micky, Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Muhammad Sagar among others.
Meira Kumar shall inaugurate an exhibition titled “Legislatures in India: The Pillars of Democracy” in the premises of Jammu and Kashmir Legislature Complex. She will also inaugurate a Photo Exhibition organized by the J&K Information Department regarding developmental activities undertaken during the present coalition Government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
The Presiding Officers Conference is being held in J&K for the 4th time. Previous Conferences were held in the State in 1954, 1970 and 1987.
Meira Kumar later held discussions with the Governor, N. N. Vohra, at Raj Bhavan this evening.
The Speaker’s discussions with the Governor included a review of the developmental and other major issues relating to the State. Meira Kumar also presented a memento to the Governor on the occasion.
