NEW TIME SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED

Srinagar, June 19: Authorities on Saturday decided that vehicles from Kargil to Srinagar would be allowed to move at 4 am, from Drass at 6 am and from Gumari 10 am so that they could cross Zojila pass by 11 am positively. While from Sonamarg towards Kargil and Leh the traffic would be allowed from 3 pm onwards, an official spokesman said.
He said the decision to formulate timings on Srinagar-Leh highway was taken at a high level meeting presided over by the Minister for Transport and Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Qamar Ali Akhoon.
The meeting also decided the Beacon authorities would maintain the road for better regulation from 11 am to 3 pm. The new time schedule for regulating the traffic movement on the Srinagar-Leh Highway would be implemented from June 25, the spokesman added.
