Srinagar, June 20: The much cherished dream of former State Chief Minister, late Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah would soon become a reality as the Jammu and Kashmir Government is going to build Tehzeeb Mahal soon.
“Tehzeeb Mahal would soon be a reality. It is now only a matter of days and months when the much cherished dream of Kashmiris would become a reality,” informed Secretary Cultural Academy, Zafar Iqbal Manhas. Zafar was speaking at Hajin on the occasion of Hajin day.
The event was organised by the State Cultural Academy in collaboration with Halqa Adab Sonwari. Laying stress on the preservation of Kashmiri language, Zafar said that in order to preserve and promote Kashmiri it was imperative that we converse in Kashmiri while at home.
“Unless we communicate in Kashmiri with our children the language can’t be preserved,” he said, adding, “Time has come when we must speak in Kashmiri at home thereby promote it”.
Announcing the resumption of the Robe of Honour scheme of the State Cultural Academy, he said that the scheme had been revived after a gap of twenty five years.
“It should be of interest to our writers and poets that the Robe of Honour scheme has been revived from this year,” he informed the gathering at Hajin.
Besides local people, the function witnessed presence of many persons of note in the audience. Prominent among those who were present on the occasion included Shujat Bukhari, Bashir Arif, Aziz Hajni, Farooq Nazki, Ghulam Nabi Khayal and Nazir Fida among others.
