1.47 lakh pilgrims register for Amarnath Yatra

Srinagar, June 20: Over 1.47 lakh people have registered for this year’s Amarnath Yatra in the first 15 days of registration through the 121 designated branches of the J&K Bank across the country.
Meanwhile, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, Additional Chief Executive Officer, Saugat Biswas has said, a meeting chaired by Board chairman, N N Vohra framed the precautionary measures for the yatris and asked the pilgrims to follow them in letter and spirit.
He said the Do’s and Don’ts for the Yatris were printed on the reverse of the Yatra Permit.
Biswas asked the Yatris to carry adequate woolen clothing, a small umbrella, wind-cheater, raincoat, sleeping bag, waterproof shoes, torch, walking stick with a proper hand grip, cap (preferably a monkey cap), gloves, jacket, woolen socks and trousers. For ladies, saree is not a suitable dress for the Yatra and Salwar kameez, pant-shirt or a track-suit will be more comfortable, he said adding small children should not be allowed to undertake the Yatra.
He said Yatris also seek information from the Shrine Board Control Room at 0194-2501679.
