Explore Prof Hajni’s life: Shariq

Hajin (Bandipore), June 20: The member parliament, Sharif-ud-Din Shariq on Sunday said the best tribute to Prof Mohi-ud-din Hajini would be to explore all aspects of his life in totality.
Addressing public on Hajini Day organized by Halaqae Adab Hajin Sonawari in collaboration with Academy of Art, Culture and Languages here, Shariq said, Prof Mohi-ud-din Hajini was a great political critic and his poetry was sweet and interesting.
“Our literary scholars, writers and intelligentsia are not exploring Hajini’s literary life,” he said.
He said “Hajni guided our youth and made them aware about the Kashmir culture and civilization.”
Asserting that Kashmiris had ‘lost their identity’ he said, “While demanding Pakistan, India, self rule and autonomy, we have lost of our identity and were now losing language and culture.”
Shariq stressed that Kashmiris particularly youth should revitalize their mother tongue and should follow their own cultures.
A galaxy of writers, intellectuals, poets and locals attended the function presided over by veteran poet and writer, Prof Rasheed Nazki, Farooq Nazki, the director Doordarshan Kendra Srinagar, Rafique Masoodi and the Academy secretary, Zafar Iqbal Manhas.
Eminent poet Margoob Banhali, Ghulam Nabi Khayal, and HAH President, Muhammad Ahsan also shared the dais.
Talking about the multifaceted contribution of Prof Hajni, the speakers said he have a new direction to Kashmiri prose writing.
Later, Shariq announced Rs 10 Lakh from his Constituency Development Fund for the construction of Adbi Markaz Kamraz office in Kansipora Varmul.
