Jama’at concerned over Valley’s situation

Srinagar: Jama’at-e-Islami J&K, at its central advisory council meeting held here with its Amir Sheikh Muhammad Hassan in chair, expressed concern over the grim situation in Valley.
 The meeting was also attended by the Jama’at general secretary, Dr Hamid Fayaz and the head of political wing advocate Zahid Ali. The members strongly condemned the ‘unjustified’ arrest of Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani and his colleagues including Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, terming it government’s frustration.
 In a statement, its spokesman said, “The ongoing struggle for the peoples’ right of self-determination can’t be suppressed by the government’s repressive policy. People can’t be forced to give up their struggle by such coercive measures.”
 The Jama’at has strongly demanded immediate and unconditional release of Geelani, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai and other pro-freedom political detainees.
