Maruti A-star bags ‘total customer satisfaction award’
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, June 21: The Maruti Suzuki A-star has won Total Customer Satisfaction award by leading market research firm, TNS Global Market Research, for 2010. Even the recent Hindustan Times-MaRS survey on consumer satisfaction found car-owners rating the A-star as the car with the highest build-quality, the company in an e-mail said. It said more and more customers in India are buying the A-star these days after the car’s superb show in Europe as an export model. “This is reflected in the overall award tally of A-star in 18 months since launch 18 months ago,” it said, adding that A-star has bagged 7 awards in India and abroad; precisely one award every 2.5 months.
“In Europe alone, where customer preference has clearly shifted towards small and environment free cars, Maruti Suzuki exported around 1.15 lakh units of A-star to 25 countries. The top 5 European markets for A-star are Netherlands, Italy, Spain, UK and Germany. In non-European markets, the top 5 A-star export destinations include Philippines, Chile, Australia, Algeria and South Africa. Maruti Suzuki has exported over 1,67,000 units since the start of its export in January 2009. “ A-star contributes to over 90% of Maruti Suzuki’s exports. The car is sold under various names: In Europe, it’s called the Suzuki Alto, while in non-European countries, it’s known as the Suzuki Celerio. The same A-star is also sold as Nissan Pixo in Europe. Today, A-star is being exported to around 90 countries around the world. A-star, made-in-India for the world, is a World Strategic Model from Maruti Suzuki. Powered by the new, state-of-the-art, light weight, 998cc K series petrol engine, the A-star is the best in class fuel-efficient car with a mileage of 19.6 kilometres per litre, as tested by ARAI, Pune, the country’s premier automotive research agency.
