FACING DIFFICULTIES IN SRINAGAR: OMAR
‘Separatists Exploit Youth’
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, June 22: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Tuesday admitted there is law and order problem in parts of Srinagar but said the process of restoring peace is moving on.
“We are facing difficulties but the process of restoring peace and tranquillity is moving on. The law and order problem in some parts of Srinagar city does not mean that the entire valley is disturbed”, Omar said speaking at a symposium on performance of legislators held here as a part of the 75th All India Presiding Officers Conference.
Welcoming Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar and participating delegates, he said their stay here will help them understand that law and order in the valley is not as bad is projected outside the state and asked them to narrate the real story when they return to their respective states.
Meanwhile, talking to some local news channels here, Omar said his government will not allow misuse of power by security forces or J&K police. He said that such acts will not go unpunished.
Expressing grief on the tragic death of youth, Omar said it was most unfortunate that some disruptive elements want to keep the pot boiling by instigating innocent youth to attack bunkers which result in loss of precious human lives.
Castigating the separatists, the Chief Minister said that some elements are instigating the youth to shed blood to satiate their (separatists’) vested interests while their own children are living a luxurious life in and outside the country.
Omar said: “I believe instead of shedding blood, youth must sweat it out to solve their problems”. He said the anti-peace elements resort to frequent strike calls and the people are fed up with their nefarious designs and want peace.
The Chief Minister made a fervent appeal to the people of the city and elders in particular to advise the children not to tread the path which leads to death and destruction. He said that to keep their cauldron boiling, the disruptive elements play with sentiments and emotions of the innocent youth.
Referring to recent unpleasant incident in Srinagar in which Javaid Ahmad Malla got killed, Omar said the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir is investigating the matter and as soon as report is received, any body found guilty would be brought to justice. He further said that if anybody is found involved in the killing of Tufail Ahmad Matoo and Rafiq Ahmad Bangroo he will also be punished as per the law of the land.
