Airtel App clocks 13 mn downloads

Srinagar, June 23: Celebrating four months of its store opening, Airtel App Central, India’s first Mobile Apps Store has clocked 13 million downloads in four months.
Airtel mobile customers across the country have downloaded at an ever increasing pace of 1.2 downloads/second, the company in a statement said.
The store has grown to offer 71,000 plus Apps to become the largest App Store in India. Mobile Apps on App Central will be available for download across 780 mobile devices up from 550 devices at the time of launch.
Announcing this, Atul Bindal, President-Mobile Services, Bharti Airtel said, “Four months since it opened - Airtel App Central continues its triumphant march, transforming into Smartphones the basic devices of an increasing number of Airtel mobile customers across the country. Airtel customers have identified our Easy Single-Click Purchase Mechanism as the most popular aspect of the Store.”
He added, “With over 32 per cent of downloads paid for, App Central is also emerging as the preferred destination for existing and upcoming developers in India and the world over.”
Airtel’s Mobile customers can choose from an incredible range of Apps in 25 categories, including social networking, games, business, news, sports, health, education and travel.
Customers can also visit Airtel Live on their mobile phone and browse into App Central or SMS app to 54321 (toll free) to receive the URL. All apps are scanned for viruses & checked for handset compatibility before making them available for customer download.
