Hurriyat (G) to announce programme today

GK NEWS NETWORK

Srinagar, June 23: The Hurriyat Conference (G) has urged people to hoist black flags on the rooftops of their houses, shops and vehicles on Thursday to protest against the human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir.
“The conglomerate will announce next week’s protest programme on Thursday in a press conference,” a Hurriyat spokesman said in a statement here.
He alleged that the armed forces were indulging in killings to “terrorize people and keep them away from the ongoing movement.”
“But all the coercive and repressive acts have always proved counter-productive for armed forces as the people have been carrying forward the resistance movement with stronger determination,” he said, adding that “the armed forces are killing civilians in fake encounters to get promotions, medals and cash rewards.”
The spokesman condemned Union Home Minister’s recommendation to hang Afzal Guru. “ If New Delhi goes ahead with its plan it will have far reaching consequences,” he added.
The spokesman also condemned the use of ‘indiscriminate force’ by the police and other armed forces against night protests in various areas of the Valley resulting in injuries to a number of protesters.
He also condemned the detention of Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Muhammad Yousuf Mir, Dr Muhammad Qasim, General Musa, Muhammad Yousuf Nadeem and Ayaz Akbar.
The spokesman also condemned the killing of two porters in an alleged fake encounter by troops in Machil sector.
