PDP concerns over suspension of cross-LoC trade

Jammu, June 23: Expressing concern over suspension of cross-LoC trade, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today regretted that the present government headed by National Conference has “failed” to carry forward the peace process initiated by the previous government headed by Mufti Muhammed Sayeed for establishing lasting peace in this region.
Addressing meeting of party workers, senior PDP leaders expressed their strong resentment over suspension of cross LoC trade which was “started due to the efforts of former Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed.”
PDP leaders observed the cross LoC trade was one of the biggest Confidence Building Measure (CBM) between two countries “but the present dispensation has miserably failed to continue this CBM.”
“What to say to initiating fresh initiatives this regime has even failed to carry forward the process stared by the previous regime”, party leaders observed and demanded that cross LoC should be started immediately to restore confidence of the people. Party leaders regretted instead of simplifying the process of cross LoC trade, “this regime has even stopped this process.”
Lambasting the coalition regime for “not taking the CBMs seriously,” PDP leaders said that such initiatives were must for establishing lasting peace in this region.
PDP leaders while demanding continuation of the peace process initiated by the previous government headed by Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, made it clear that policies which were propagated during previous government headed by PDP were must for lasting peace in this region.
They stressed on the need of reviving the process which was started by Mufti Muhammad Sayeed.
They said that during the last one and half year situation has been deteriorating in the State and government seems to be not interested in normalizing the situation.
Prominent among those who addressed the meeting included Thakur Balbir Singh, Trilok Singh Bajwa, Rafiq Hussain Khan, MLA Mendhar, Choudhary Zulfikar, MLA Darhal, Murtaza Khan, MLC and others.
