Meeting on master plan violations ends inconclusive

Srinagar, June 24: A high-level meeting called Thursday on Master Plan violations in the City as identified by a committee constituted by the Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand last year ended inconclusive due to lack of consensus among the committee members.
Sources said another round of talks would be called soon.
While some of the concerned officials, as per sources, didn’t turn up for the meeting; those present pitched contradicting solutions.
“These ranged from strict disciplinary action against the officials to pardoning them,” said a source.
Pertinently on the instructions the Dy Chief Minister, the committee headed by Additional Commissioner Kashmir had identified over 1100 structures allegedly violating the building permission norms in the City. It comprises of members from Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Srinagar Development Authority, Roads and Buildings department, Power Development Department and Tehsildars (of north and south Srinagar).
