Valley tour operators call for regular Srinagar-Dubai flights

Srinagar, June 24: A deputation of the Travel Agents’ Association of Kashmir called on the Governor, N. N. Vohra, at Raj Bhavan, here this evening and thanked him for enhancing the quota of helicopter bookings for the Tour and Travel Operators of both Kashmir and Jammu Divisions for the ensuing Amarnathji Yatra, an official statement said.
The 5-member deputation led by President of the Association, Rauf Tramboo, said that this would give impetus to the promotion of tourism activities in the State. They added that the Travel and Tour Operators are working in close coordination with the Shrine Board for facilitating Amarnathji Yatris.
The deputationists submitted a Memorandum of their demands to the Governor, which included resumption of regular flights between Srinagar and Dubai from the Srinagar International Airport; taking up the matter with various countries for withdrawing advisories issued by them to their citizens against visiting Kashmir; provision of rebate in various taxes for the Travel and Tour Operators and formulating schemes for facilitating them in their tourism promotion efforts.
Other demands projected by the deputation included taking measures for encouraging adventure and conference tourism in Jammu and Kashmir and developing new tourist spots in the State.
The Governor gave a patient hearing to the deputationists.
The Principal Secretary to the Governor, Raj Kumar Goyal was present on the occasion.
