Zero Bridge to be reconstructed
Saroori releases Rs 1 crore for project

Srinagar, June 24: The historic Zero Bridge at Raj Bagh will be reconstructed, the R&B Minister GM Saroori on Thursday said.
An official handout said: “It was decided in the meeting that historic Zero Bridge will be reconstructed to ease the traffic pressure in the civil line areas of the City and JKPCC has been asked to prepare Detailed Project Report early so that it is submitted to Centre under Central Road Fund (CRF) for approval.”
“The Minister released Rs. 1 crore under projectization for the purpose and asked the agency to start groundwork of the project,” it added.
Besides, Saroori instructed the officials “to make fully functional the hot mixing plants in the Valley so that R&B Department lifts the Bituminous from there, which can generate income for the Department as well.”
The Minister was reviewing the progress of under execution road projects coming up in Srinagar city at a meeting.
Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Nasir Sogami, Commissioner Secretary PWD (R&B) Mehboob Iqbal, Chief Engineer, R&B, Nazir Ahmad, Chief Engineer, Mechanical Engineering Department, Farooq Ahmad and Managing Director, JKPCC, Tehsin Mustafa were present on the occasion.
