Govt afraid of Geelani’s popularity: Hurriyat (G)

Srinagar, June 25: Claiming that the government was afraid of Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s popularity and political perspicacity, Hurriyat Conference (G) on Friday reacted sharply to the recent remarks of the
 the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
 “Booking Geelani Sahib under Public Safety Act (PSA) and shifting him to Chesmashahi sub-jail proves that government is feeling threatened and insecure. The height is that the Chief Minister is terming the Cheshmashahi sub-jail as tourist hut to mislead the people and save himself from their wrath, forgetting that everyone knows that jail is a jail irrespective of its location,” a Hurriyat spokesman said in a statement.
 “We want to make it clear to the so called Chief Minister that pro-freedom leaders or activists do not disrupt the peace. Trigger happy armed forces are responsible for vitiating the peace by killing innocents,” he added. 
 Meanwhile, senior Hurriyat leaders addressed people at different places in connection with “Quit Kashmir campaign” and  made people aware about it.
