JKLF VICE-CHAIRMAN AMONG 26 COURT ARREST

KHALID GUL

Islamabad, July 25: Continuing with its Jail Bharo program for the seventh running day on Friday, nearly  26  activists of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) courted arrested in this south Kashmir town.
Before courting arrest, the Front activists led by their Vice-Chairman Bashir Ahmad Bhat took out a procession from Rehat-Ded Masjid. Hundreds of people joined the march.
Bhat while condemning the crackdown of the police on the youth in the valley said, “Instead of booking the innocent youth on charges of stone pelting under the draconian Public Safety Act, and ruining their careers the government should prove the allegations in the court of law.”
Bhat while recalling the day when three youth were killed by the troopers at the same spot where from today’s
protest march was taken out in Islamabad town said, “In 1988 a youth was killed by troopers and when another youth tried to give water to him bullets were showered on him and he too was killed , which was followed by the killing of yet another person who too tried to give water to those lying in a pool of blood. I was then booked under Public Safety Act and sent to Kotbalwal jail for 2-years for raising my voice against these innocent killings and demanding judicial enquiry from the government led by Dr Farooq Abdullah”.
