Kathi Darwaza complains of power ‘overdose’
Colony transformer, household gadgets damaged; residents aghast

Srinagar, June 24: The residents of Omarabad at Kathi Darwaza locality in Shahr-e-Khaas Friday said they had a narrow escape last night when the colony transformer was damaged after feeding the households with an “overdose of power voltage”.
They said at around 3 AM at night there was a bang at the transformer and gadgets online were also damaged.
The residents accused the Power Development Department of being callous towards their “long pending demand to get the transformer revamped.”
“For many years we had been apprehending a major fault and finally it came true,” the residents said adding electrical gadgets like geysers and TVs were damaged in the area.
The affected family heads identified themselves as Muhammad Amin Baig, Haji Ghulam Rasool Bhat, Ali Muhammad Bhat and Sheikh Noor Muhammad.
They appealed the Chief Engineer PDD to look into the matter at an earliest.
Despite repeated the PDD officials couldn’t be contacted for comment.
