Talks with Pakistan an exercise in futility: BJP

New Delhi, June 25: BJP today claimed that the India-Pakistan talks had proved to be “an exercise in futility” as the neighbouring country raised the pitch on Kashmir when India brought up the issue of terrorism.
 “The recent Indo-Pak talks have yet again proved to be an exercise in futility. Pakistan raised the pitch on Kashmir when the Indian government tried to flag the issue of terrorism,” BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said.
 Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao held talks with her Pakistani counterpart Salman Bashir yesterday. Home Minister P Chidambaram is in Pakistan for the SAARC meet and is likely to have a one-on-one meeting with Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik.
 Javadekar said these talks held no significance as Pakistan continued to sponsor terrorism in India.
 “Pakistan has not changed one bit... Its state actors, including the army and ISI, are also involved (in abetting terrorism against India),” he said.
 Even the dossiers provided by India against culprits of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack had not moved Pakistan to act against them, he maintained.
