KUTA condemns killings, threatens protests
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, June 27: Kashmir University Teachers Association, President, Dr Muhammad Yousuf Ganie has threatened to launch sustained agitation“should the government continue to fail in curbing human rights violations.”
Referring to the killing of two youth in Sopur a few days after twokillings in Srinagar, Dr Ganie said: “The entire Kashmir is burning and those in power are enjoying easy chair meetings.”
“The government must understand that the intellectual community can’t act mute spectator to genocide of Kashmiris,” he said.
He said if the rights abuse isn’t brought to an immediate halt the time wasn’t far off when the intellectual community would also take to streets.
Meanwhile, Dr Ganie condemned the statement of Army Chief that AFSPA shouldn’t be amended.
“The authority of regional political parties has been so reduced that now army openly snubs their statements as if Kashmir is under army rule,” he alleged.
Dr Ganie said the KUTA would soon hold a meeting at Kashmir University to decide future course of action about the prevailing situation in Kashmir.
