Flight diversion

This refers to the news regarding the diversion of KFA flight from Srinagar to Delhi. I really feel really sad about the news based on the phone calls  you got from the concerned passengers on the diverted flight. If I remember correctly the flight departed at 15:50 (I.S.T) and it  should have arrived overhead Delhi at 17:00 hrs. (I.S.T) & then it diverted at 17:35 hrs. And the reason mentioned was that it  was because of some minister on board.
Well I just want to ask how much fuel you think an aircraft is  supposed to carry. I think you sh'ld have enquired about it first. It's pretty normal, that if the flight gets diverted and if any  passenger wants to get down at the diverted destination he or she is allowed to do so.
It's not that any pilot can divert a flight at his will. Usually an aircraft carries fuel from departure station to destination aerodrome, an approach and a missed approach, holding fuel for  30 minutes plus any extra as per the company fuel policy and then diversion fuel.
