‘I love Kashmir University’
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, June 2: Asserting that he was a die-hard fan of the University of Kashmir and loved the institution a lot, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Wednesday said his government was committed to the progress and growth of Kashmir’s highest seat of learning.
“Believe me, I have a peculiar relationship with the University of Kashmir. Every time I get invitation from KU, I think whether to go or not. I will tell you why. I am a politician. It is ingrained in me to pick up moods and perceptions. I say it with absolutely no sense of malice, with absolutely no sense of regret. Fact of the matter is that I really love Kashmir University a lot,” Omar told a gathering of academics, officials and students at the Kashmir University, evoking a huge round of applause.
He said, “I know most people in the University don’t really like me very much for politics and for what I have come to represent. I am not here because I want everybody to love me. I am here because I have a commitment to the institution, and I want the institution to thrive. I reiterate my commitment to the Vice-Chancellor and to others. Regardless of what they make out of me as an individual, I am a die-hard fan of the University.”
