CRPF snaps power, telephone lines in Batamaloo: Residents

SRINAGAR:  The residents of Firdousabad, Batamaloo accused the paramilitary CRPF of snapping the power and telephone lines in the area, besides smashing windowpanes.
 The residents of colony’s Lane 18 said the troops Tuesday morning fired dozens of teargas canisters in the colony before damaging the colony transformers.
 “They have badly damaged the power transformers rendering us without electricity,” said a local adding that the telephone lines had also been snapped.
 “It seems they(CRPF) are implementing Zionist policy on Gaza in Srinagar,” alleged a university professor living in the area.
 The professor said windows panes of all the colony houses were also damaged by the CRPF, a charge denied by the paramilitary.
 The CRPF has been refuting the allegations.
 Meanwhile, residents of Hyderpora near JK Bank branch said their windowpanes were broken by the paramilitary.
