American filmmaker shoots Kashmiri Sufiyana

Srinagar, June 3: American filmmaker Elayne McCabe on Thursday filmed Sufiyana Music Programme at the Cultural Academy as part of her filmmaking studies, an official handout said.
 Commenting on day’s show, McCabe said artists like Yaqoob Sheikh were exceptional and must be patronised.
 “Yaqoob Sheikh is one of Kashmir’s exceptional musicians and he does a lot for this rich musical tradition by performing at the Academy,” McCabe said.
 Giving her comments on the traditional music forms of Kashmir, McCabe said she was grateful to the Cultural Academy for allowing her to shoot the ancient music traditions of Kashmir.
 The two day traditional Kashmiri music programme, which concluded today with the performance of Mohammed Yaqoob Sheikh and party, was jointly organised by the Cultural Academy and the North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala.
