Shutdown eye opener for India: JuM
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar: Jamiat-ul-Mujahideen on Monday said the shutdowns observed by Kashmiris on every visit of Dr Manmohan Singh should serve as pointer to the Indian leadership to acknowledge realities, shun stubbornness and resolve Kashmir issue.
“If the K-issue could be settled by offering economic packages and other allurements, the Kashmiris would not have observed shutdown on the arrival of PM,” outfit spokesman, Jameel Ahmad said in a statement, adding “The Indian leadership was shying away from resolving Kashmir and vainly trying to buy the Kashmiris’ aspirations for freedom by doling out sops to them. But till date all such plans have failed to produce dividends. Today’s meetings, feasts and functions in Srinagar also proved futile to yield results.”
He claimed that the people would continue to observe shutdowns to express their anger on such occasions till they were given their right of self-determination.
Terming as ‘drama’ the protest by the MLA Langate, Er S Rashid, the Jameel asked him to put off the pro-India mantle and join peoples’ struggle if he was sincere in his assertions and averments.
