Mere rhetoric: Salah-ud-Din
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, June 8: The United Jihad Council chairman, Syed Salah-ud-din, on Tuesday said the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh spoke rhetoric on his visit to Kashmir.
“There was a clear-cut contradiction in Manmohan Singh’s statements. He termed the genuine struggle of the people of Jammu and Kashmir as terrorism when this struggle is in accordance with the United Nations Organization charter. Through the UN resolutions people of the state are fighting for their fundamental rights,” a UJC spokesman quoted Salah-ud-Din saying.
He said such “contradictory and baseless statements” were in contravention with the ground realities in the state. “India’s stubborn attitude and far-from-truth approach is hampering the resolution of Kashmir dispute in the light of its historical perspective,” Salah-ud-Din said.
He said Manmohan talked what different Indian politicians have been talking for the past 62 years. “And such statements are mere eyewash aimed at misleading the world community and the general public. The reality is that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are suffering at the hands of Indian troops who are resorting to bloodshed day in and day out, and also committing worst forms of human rights violations,” Salah-ud-Din said.
He rejected the bilateral dialogue between India and Pakistan or India and Kashmir, saying it would be unsuccessful as has been the case in the past. “For any dialogue to be successful, it is important that Kashmir is discussed as a core issue and it is resolved as per the aspirations of the people of Kashmir,” he said.
He said the Indian troops were killing civilians in “fake encounters” and then the country was denying justice to the victims and their families.
