1-day co-operative conference held

Jammu, Feb 28: “Co-operative is a Movement of the people, by the people and for the people launched to strengthen economy of poor and weaker section of the society by their participation.”
These views were expressed by Additional District Development Commissioner, Poonch Syed Anwar Hussain Shah while inaugurating a day long Co-operative conference held at Poonch today. Conference was organized by National Co-operative Union of India branch Poonch to educate people regarding challenges before co-operative during new millennium.
The speakers proposed, valuable suggestion to revive co-operative as a people’s movement. It was suggested that there is sufficient potential to venture on Agriculture based co-operative societies by providing dairy, milk products, vegetables, fruit products, sugar cane production, self help groups, fisheries, poultry, seeds societies and fertilizers etc.
It was further suggested that arrangements to be made at Government level to impart basic essential training for successful launch of co-operative societies. It was felt that government sponsorship in imparting basic training should be in place at all cost.
