DG YSS visits ski training camps

Srinagar, Feb 28: Director General Youth Services and Sports, Shameem Ahmad Laherwal today interacted with the children undergoing training courses at Gulmarg.
Shameem visited two training camps run by DYSS and Sports Council and issued on the spot instructions for the redressal of the participants’ grievances. He also visited the huts and other buildings where these children and the training staff were putting up.
He also gave away prizes to the participants. According to him, 60 students were participating in the courses and were being trained in basic, intermediate and advance levels of skiing from February 15.
During the prize distribution, DYSS organized rescue demos and different acrobatics.
Speaking on the occasion Director General assured further improvement in the facilities in these courses from next season.
Talking to Greater Kashmir, he expressed satisfaction over the facilities and training being provided to the children. He admitted that there were certain lacunae which the department was working on. “We are trying to address them effectively from the next season.”
“We are spending Rs 17 lakh annually on accommodation alone,” he said adding the department was contemplating to construct its own building and upgrade training facilities.
Director DYSS A M Dar and deputy director DYSS Gulshan Ara also accompanied the DG.
