Nishat-Shalimar passengers protest ‘poor’ bus service

Srinagar, Mar 10: The passengers of Harwan Shalimar, Brain and Nishat area on Tuesday evening staged protests at Maisuma against the non-availability of passenger buses in the late hours.
The protesters alleged that the Harwan route bus service was stopped at 6: 45 hrs adding that after that no bus was available forcing people to board Sumos which charged Rs 20 per head even if the passenger had to travel the half way.
For the past many months the passengers of this route are demanding the bus service be operational till late hours, at least upto 8PM.
“The SRTC was running a bus from Lal Chowk to Harwan during peak hours but as the schools re-opened the service seems to have been suspended,” the passengers alleged.
They appealed the Regional Transport Officer to look into the matter.
