JK-Himachal to work in tandem to improve transport system

Jammu, Mar 11: Minister for Transport and Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD), Qamar Ali Akhoon during his visit to Simla met the Transport Minister of Himachal Pradesh (HP), Mohinder Singh and discussed the pattern and procedure adopted by the HP Government for reviving of the HPSRTC, an official statement said. The Ministers discussed various issues include; organizational structure and functions; power and duties of officers; procedures and norms followed in the Corporation; Board, Committees and other bodies; budget allocation/grant in-aid and capital contribution; financial management; pension/GPF; stores and material management; marketing management; and strategies; computerization; operation on un-economical routes; fare structure, road taxes; staff norms; free concessional facilities (viz students and employees of Government/PSU, Policy personals, freedom fighter, ex and sitting MP/MLA’s, HANDICAPPED War widow, press personals, orphan students, cancer patients, national awardee teachers, free traveling to women in HRTC busses); buses lying at Jasoor workshop and rescheduling of Simla-Jammu service operated by the JKSRTC.
Akhoon was accompanied by the Commissioner Secretary, Transport and CA&PD, Dr. Asgar Hussain Samoon, Managing Director, SRTC, Anoop Kannaw, Director State Motor Grarages, G. A. Sofi and General Manager, SRTC, S. S. Jamwal.
Both the Ministers agreed to work together to boost transport system in their hilly States and to cooperate for upliftment of their respective RTCs.
