Issue of road mishaps in Doda rocks LA

Jammu, Mar 12: The issue of frequent road mishaps in erstwhile Doda district rocked Legislative Assembly, here today. Blaming his government, the Congress party’s member from Banihal constituency Vikar Rasool said: “This government has totally failed in containing such mishaps.”
He alleged that rampant corruption in traffic and transport department was the main reason behind such accidents. “The mishaps take place due to over loading and other violations of road safety Act.”
The agitated member later, staged a walk out, expressing dissatisfaction over the reply of his question by transport minister, Qamar Ali Akhoon, during question hour.
The MLA demanded more SRTC buses for district Ramban and said that, it was being discriminated against two buses Doda and Kishtiwar have been provided fifteen buses. He wanted specific time within which the district would be provided more such vehicles and for not getting satisfactory reply he staged a walk out.
