Army chief arrives on 2 day visit

Jammu, Mar 13: The Chief of Army Staff, Gen Deepak Kapoor, accompanied by his wife Kirti Kapoor arrived on a two-day farewell visit to Northern Command in Udhampur on Saturday.
 The army chief, who is due to relinquish command on March 31 after more than 42 years of service, is on a two day farewell visit to the Command, a defence spokesman said, here today.
 On his arrival, General Kapoor interacted with senior officers of Northern Command and was briefed by Lt Gen BS Jaswal, GOC-in-C Northern Command on the security situation in the state, the spokesman added.
 General Kapoor’s long association with Jammu and Kashmir began with the command of the Rampur Brigade deployed on the Line of Control from 1995 to 1997.
