5-day employment fair begins at Bandipore

Bandipora, Mar 15: A 5-day employment fair organized by the District Employment and Counselling Centre commenced here in the North Kashmir on Monday.
 The fair was held at Boys Higher Secondary School, Kaloosa, in which a large number of people and unemployed youth turned up.
 The Secretary, Labour and Employment, Farooq Ahmed Peer, inaugurated the fair. In his  inaugural speech, he said that instead of hankering after government jobs, unemployed youth should set up their own income generating units to become self reliant. Instead of being employed, it can enable them to become employers.
 “Our youth should set up units to earn their livelihood. They should not become job-seekers but should be job-providers,” he said.
 Those present on the occasion included the former MLA, Ghulam Rasool Naz, District Development Commissioner,  M. S. Sood, Joint Director, Employment,  Peerzada Mushtaq Ahmed Shah, the Deputy Director, Employment, Ghulam Rasool Zargar, and District Employment and Counselling Officer, Shabnam Mir.
  Durning the fair, 25 stalls have been set up by different departments to showcase their job-oriented schemes. The main attraction was the Line of Control trade stall set up by the Industries and Employment Departments.
 The Fisheries Department informed the function that it has set up 22 units each with a capacity of 100 quintals in the district.
