GK NEWS NETWORK
Jammu, Mar 15: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla today said that over Rs. 64.31 crore were sanctioned for providing relief in the form of free ration for three months @ 35 kg per family per month to the drought affected families of Jammu region. The scales mentioned above were prescribed on the basis of the drought conditions, irrespective of the district.
The Minister was replying to a clubbed Calling Attention Notice of Javed Ahmad Ranan and S. T. S. Wazir in Legislative Council today.
The Minister said as reported by the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, 26791 quintals of rice and 47021 quintals of wheat have been distributed among the drought affected families of Rajouri and Poonch districts.
He said since, the Government has sanctioned free distribution of ratin amongst the drought affected families only and not amongst the whole rationed population, the same is being misinterpreted in the field adding that there is no disparity in this regard.
