CM for amicable police-public relation

Jammu, Mar 16: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah today highlighted the multi-facetted role of J&K Police and said that besides normal policing, maintenance of law and order and combating militancy, police nurtures sports and cultural activities.
Inaugurating Auditorium at Gulshan Ground here, Omar underscored the importance of amicable relations between people and police adding public friendly police was the need of the hour.
He said JKP had undergone a tremendous change and was emerging as professional and trained force. “There has been remarkable development in Police force including modernization, training and infrastructural development”, he said adding every effort should be made to make the JKP as a model force in the country.
Hailing Police for developing sports and encouraging cultural events, he said while developing a brave force to shoulder any responsibility professionally, equal attention should be paid to take care of the families of police martyrs.
Omar welcomed the JKP decision to keep the auditorium available to others for holding cultural events, seminars and workshops. He said by this decision the Jammuities would be having another facility for these activities. He also suggested the Police to workout commercial aspect of the auditorium for its maintenance.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director General of Police, Kuldeep Khoda said the Auditorium would not only act as an entertainment centre, but an important venue for organizing seminars and workshops.
He said creation of infrastructure was priority of JKP and in the year 2009 several buildings, barracks, police offices, police posts and residential complexes had been constructed across J&K.
