Water wars
‘World Water Day’ is being observed on March 22nd. Water is life. Drinkable water constitutes less than three percent of global water resources. Although the total water content on earth remains constant (through Hydrological Cycle) but the amount of water available for consumption is declining. Water table is depleting at an alarming rate. The per-capita share of water is also showing a declining trend. If we don’t use water judiciously, we will face a grave situation in future. It has been predicted that in future, nations will fight wars on water disputes. The conservation of water has attained great significance in today’s world. We should take measures to harness rain water for domestic and agricultural purposes. We must create public awareness about the vanishing water resources and the economical use of water. Industrialization has led to contamination of water. Polluted water does not affect only humans, but animal life as well. Let’s all understand the importance of water resources for a better tomorrow.
