Jammu MLAs object to stone-throwers’ rehabilitation
GK NEWS NETWORK
Jammu, March 17: Jammu based members from opposition today protested in Legislative Assembly against the government proposed rehabilitation package for ‘stone-pelters’ as reported in a section of the press.
The BJP, JKNPP and JSM members protested over the move as soon as the house met this morning. They termed the policy as against the interests of the country, observing that this would vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in the state.
BJP state president, Ashok Khujaria, warned of serious consequences if the government chooses to go by the policy. He said such a policy was not in the interest of the country. Prof Chaman Lal Gupta said that only a few days back the government was alleging PDP of patronizing these stone-pelters and have booked many of such people under PSA. He said that the government should make it clear as whose men they actually were. He also referred to the government’s statement in the house about involvement of a group of these persons in the killing of an infant near Baramulla.
Questioning the government’s move, Balwant Singh Mankotia said that the Assembly being in session, government shall have taken the House in confidence before announcing such policy. He accused the government of violating the set democratic norms.
