After 10 years, CB produces charge sheet for bank forgery

Srinagar, Mar 18: After 10 years, the Crime Branch produced charge sheet against five accused in the fraudulent encashment of payment orders worth Rs 4,73,180 from  JK Bank’s Residency Road Branch, a police handout Thursday said.
 “During investigation, it was found that the bank received 12 payment orders worth Rs. 4,73,180/ from various parties/banks during 1992-1996 and these payment orders instead of being paid to the genuine party where found to have been cashed fraudulently by the then Branch Manager, a resident of Lalbazar, Srinagar,” the police said.
 The accused, as per the police, was produced before the Court of Additional Anti-Corruption Judge Srinagar on 11th of this month.
