GK NEWS NETWORK

Srinagar: The City police on Friday seized the truck which was allegedly used in black marketing of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution System (CAPD rice, and arrested the driver.
The Police had Thursday seized 170 bags of rice from Tengpora area meant for sale through CAPD Zahidpora Hakabazar Hawal outlet.
Reports said that the rice was routed to open market though black marketers from CAPD storehouse at Shaheed Gunj.
“It was originally meant for Zahidpora depot but was illegally unloaded in a gowdown of Abul Samad Bhat in Tengpora. Initial investigation revealed that the rice was diverted in connivance with some CAPD employees,” SHO Batamaloo Police Station, Zahoor Ahmad told Greater Kashmir.
Zahoor said on Friday truck driver, Fayaz Ahmad, was arrested while the truck (JK09-0399) was seized.
He said that each rice bag was sold for Rs 1300 in the black market when the original rate at PDS is Rs 900.
The SHO said that arrest of some CAPD employees was on cards as the racket has “deep tentacles”.
“We are investigating the case and soon we will crack the entire gang,” Zahoor added.
