Govt works out strategy for developing model villages
GK NEWS NETWORK
Jammu: The Government, in consultation with the Centre, has worked out a strategy of taking up development of model villages by convergence of departments to effect improvement in facilities at the proposed sites.
This was stated by Rural Development Minister, Ali Muhammad Sagar in reply to supplementaries on a question by Lal Chand, during Question Hour in Assembly.
He cited the example of Shahdra Sharief other villages, where Rs 6.50 crore were being spent to develop facilities as envisaged in the Model Village Scheme.
He said there were instances where development was not apparent in model villages, particularly those spread on the large areas. He said that work on 61 model villages in the Kashmir and 42 in the Jammu Division had been completed.
He said the demand for a model village in Bani Block would be considered.
He said creation of new blocks would be considered after the Committee looking into such demands submits its report. He said presently there was no proposal under the government’s consideration to create CD blocks.
