Hurriyat (G) condemns raid on Khan’s residence
Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) has strongly condemned the police raid on the temporary residence of its acting general secretary, Feroze Ahmad Khan. In a statement, Hurriyat spokesman said, “During the raid police harassed Feroze’s wife and children and conducted extensive searches. But they could not find anything objectionable.” Meanwhile, Muslim League, at a meeting on Friday with its acting chairman, Abdul Ahad Parra in chair, condemned the frequent raids on the residences of party leaders and activists.
Quake mock drill at Varmul
Varmul: A Mock Drill on earthquake was today conducted by the Administration here in collaboration with National Disaster Management Authority at Government Higher secondary School, in which people from Kupwara and Bandipora also participated. On this occasion, students besides common people were imparted necessary training by the in charge Disaster Management Kashmir, Amir Ali including Health Department, Fire and Emergency Services, Home Guard, NCC, National Disaster Management and representatives of Forces and other volunteers.
‘2200 parcels held up in Delhi, Chandigarh post offices’

Kargil, Mar 19: As many as 2200 speed post parcels containing books and medicines marked for Leh and Kargil are held up in New Delhi and Chandigarh post offices for more than three months.According to the owners of these parcels, they had booked them when Srinagar-Leh road was closed for vehicular traffic during winters.“The speed post, which the postal department claims to deliver within three days, is yet to arrive,” they told Greater Kashmir.We approached DG Post, but the authorities failed to deliver the parcels, they added.

Srinagar: The sub divisional police officer, Handwara Ghulam Jeelani Wani was awarded Sher-e-Kashmir Police Medal for gallantry services at a function in Jammu on Wednesday. Ghulam Jeelani is 2001-KPS batch officer.
SKIMS conducts workshop
Srinagar: The Department of General Surgery, SK Institute of Medical Sciences, Soura Friday conducted a technically advanced workshop on laparoscopic colorectal robotic surgery. The workshop was held under the chairmanship of Prof Khursheed Alam Wani and during it the visiting laparoscopic surgeon, Dr Shailesh Puntamberkar along with other SKIMS doctors performed a live surgery.

Patwari held for ‘demanding’ bribe
Srinagar: The sleuths of Vigilance Organization on Friday caught a revenue official in Bandipora while allegedly accepting the bribe. In a statement, VO said Patwari Muhammad Yousuf Dar of Halqa Sunderwani Bandipora was allegedly demanding and accepting Rs 3000 from Ghulam Muhammad Sheikh of Ajar as a consideration for recording ‘Inheritance Mutation’. An FIR has been registered.
