GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Mar 19: Hurriyat Conference (M) today described the detention of its leaders as “unjustified.”
In a statement, Hurriyat spokesman condemned the continued detention of Zaffar Akbar Bhat and said that he was arrested during a peaceful demonstration and shifted to Sub Jail, Varmul. “These coercive steps tantamount to putting curbs on freedom of speech and violation of democratic rights,” he added
Meanwhile, he condemned, “the inhuman treatment meted to the pro-freedom detainees” in District Jail, Kupwara. “The detainees in the jail are treated like criminal convicts and deprived of medical facilities due to which most of them are suffering from different disease,” he said, appealing to the international human rights organizations to take serious note of the plight of these detainees.
Meanwhile, the Awami Action Committee, on the instruction of its chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has asked its members and workers to step up their political activities in all villages and Mohallas to make the organization stronger and more effective. It urged them to make the Hurriyat programmes successful to take the ongoing struggle to its logical end.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Democratic Freedom Party on Friday visited the residence of Khursheed Ahmad Parray at Hawoora, Khan Sahab Budgam and expressed sympathies with his family. Khursheed was recently slain during a shootout at Koker Bazar here.
The delegation reiterated to take the martyrs’ mission to its logical end.
Later on, they visited SKIMS, Soura and enquired about the health of Me’raj-ud-Din Shah who was injured in Koker Bazar incident.
