Jammu, Mar 21: An army man allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself in Poonch on Sunday.
Sepoy Rajinder Kumar of 39 Rashtriya Rifles, posted at forward defence location in Jallas near Line of Control, fired from his service rifle while on duty, Defence sources said.
On hearing the gun shot, army personnel and officers rushed to the site and found him dead, they said, adding the reason behind the extreme step was not known.
The army has ordered a court of inquiry into the incident, they said.
This is the second incident in the past three days. A Junior Commissioned Officer, Naib Subedar Ganga Ram had committed suicide by shooting himself with his own rifle in Mendhar area of the district on Friday.
