GK NEWS NETWORK

Srinagar, Mar 22: At least two residential houses were gutted Monday while some other nearby structures got damaged in a fire in Makhdoom Sahib area of Shahr-e-Khaas. And as the fire was on, a local girl, Bisma Majeed daughter of Abdul Majeed was crushed by a speeding Tata 407 in the lane leading to the fire spot.
Parvez Ahmed a police official posted in the area said Bisma of Kathi Darwaza, was rushed to SKIMS Soura where she breathed her last.
He said the girl was walking in the area when the vehicle hit her.
Police has seized the vehicle but the driver managed to flee from the spot.
“We are looking for him and will be arrested.”
The locals said one of the affected houses belonged to the family of Farooq Ahmed Shah who died in his ‘40s last year leaving behind his family including wife and kids who have nobody to look after ever since.
“The tragedy has again fallen on this family as now they are not only without a source of income but have lost their shelter as well,” the locals said.
They said it was unfortunate that nobody from the government has come to the rescue of the victims.
The cause of fire was being ascertained.
