NPP seeks amnesty for political prisoners

ZAHID BASHIR

Srinagar, Mar 23: The legislative Council Tuesday witnessed pandemonium after Panthers Party MLC Muhammad Rafiq Shah brought in a resolution seeking release of political prisoners.
The Council disapproved the resolution by voice vote.
Shah presented a resolution seeking release of all political prisoners and those lodged in jails under small charges.
He urged government to give general amnesty to the political prisoners so that they could start life afresh after release from the jails.
However, the National Conference members objected and asked him to withdraw the resolution.
